Humble ISD Students Raise $17K For Texas Children's Hospital
Each year, the school hosts its annual Creating for Care fundraiser benefitting The Periwinkle Foundation and raised $17,000 this year.

HUMBLE, TX βStudents at Deerwood Elementary took the stage on May 27 to perform an original stage play based on the book Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle by Betty McDonald.
Each year, the school hosts its annual Creating for Care fundraiser benefitting The Periwinkle Foundation, and despite the devastation that the area of Kingwood suffered as a result of Hurricane Harvey, they were able to raise a record-setting $17,000 this year.
Going on its fifth year, Creating for Care is a service learning organization founded by Robin Robinson, a first grade teacher at Deerwood Elementary. Robinson started the organization in honor of her son, and has seen it be embraced by her family, coworkers, students, parents and community.

Each year, proceeds from the performance organized by the Creating for Care program go directly to The Periwinkle Foundation to support camps, arts and survivor programs for children, teens and families at Texas Childrenβs Hospital who are challenged by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
βWe are a very fortunate to have the support of Robin Robinson and the amazing students in the Creating for Care program,β said Doug Suggitt, Executive Director of The Periwinkle Foundation. βThey make a tremendous impact in the lives of the children living with cancer.β
The Periwinkle Foundation develops and provides programs that positively change the lives of children, young adults and families who are challenged by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and are cared for at Texas Childrenβs Hospital.
Periwinkle Camps, Arts and Survivor Programs serve more than 14,000 children, teens and families annually.
