Humble population projected to grow exponentially
At its July 11 meeting, the Humble City Council heard from Mark Mitchell, president of the Lake Houston Economic Development Partnership (LHEPD), about the positive changes and local population growth of the Humble area, especially since Hurricane Harvey. Mitchell highlighted activities such as grant distribution that has benefited area projects including modifications at Hermann Memorial, TxDOT meetings and updates around Deerbrook Mall.
“Between 1980 and 2023, it is projected that the Humble population is set to increase five-fold in terms of the general population. While our area is continuing to expand and grow, we lack in the millennial population and we are currently working to remedy this outlook,” said Mitchell. “We continue to monitor and look for ways to improve traffic flow. Keep in mind that 217,000 unique vehicles traverse through the City of Humble on a daily basis. Traffic flow initiatives are a high priority.”
