The Kingwood baseball team opened the 2019 season ranked No. 4 in the state by a Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association preseason poll.
The Mustangs blanked No. 6 state-ranked The Woodlands, 8-0, on Friday, Feb. 22 in the Humble Tournament. Ryan Michie threw the six-inning complete game two-hitter, striking out six.
The senior also had two of Kingwood’s 10 hits and drove in a run. Carter Amarantos and Sam Friday also collected two hits apiece while Justin Long and Matthew Wheatley each drew a pair of walks. Tre Richardson drove in two runs and Wheatley added another RBI.
