It was a season of heartache and jubilation, of tragedy and triumph. The Kingwood Mustangs persevered in the face of Hurricane Harvey. Despite being displaced from their own school, the football program held together under head coach Barry Campbell, and not only earned a trip to the Class 6A Division II playoffs, but won a pair of postseason games in the process.

The Mustangs won at NRG Stadium and advanced to the Region III semifinals last Saturday at TDECU Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston. Kingwood finishes the highly challenging 2017 season with a record of 6-6. Langham Creek (11-1) will advance to play at Cy-Fair in a 1 p.m. Saturday region championship game.
