Summer Creek BizCom learns about billion-dollar expansion
The water purification plant that provides fresh drinking water to thirsty Lake Houston residents is undergoing a billion-dollar expansion.
Ravi Kaleyatodi, engineer with the City of Houston’s Public Works and Engineering Department and project director of the expansion, described details at the Lake Houston Chamber’s Summer Creek BizCom Sept. 13 at Summer Creek High School.
“This is the largest water expansion in the world,” Kaleyatodi said. “We can provide 80 million gallons of fresh water each day. When the expansion is completed in 2024, we’ll provide 400 million gallons of fresh water every day.”
