Michael Phelps Headlines Crystal Lagoon Debut In Humble

HUMBLE, TX -- The very first crystal lagoon in Texas will be opening soon in Humble and will feature an appearance by Olympic champion Michael Phelps, who holds 23 gold medals. The grand opening of the crystal lagoon, the centerpiece of the Balmoral community, happens on Thursday, Aug. 23.

The Balmoral community is the first of several planned developments across Texas to integrate a crystal lagoon as its centerpiece. Developers are building a second and even larger Texas lagoon paradise at Windsong Ranch, north of Dallas. Officials said in a press release that Windsong Ranch will open next spring.

There are 21 similar crystal lagoon communities in the U.S. that are open or under construction and four of those are in Texas.

The event on Aug. 23 will not be open to the public, officials said.
