Newborn Taken To Fire Station After He's Abandoned At Church
Firefighters were surprised when a man dropped off a baby he said had been abandoned at a church in northeast Houston.

HOUSTON, TX -- A newborn infant who was just a few hours old was brought to a Houston fire station after being found abandoned at a church in northeast Houston.
The incident happened just before 5 a.m. Wednesday when firefighters said a man came to Fire Station 63 on Will Clayton Parkway and said someone had left the infant at a church on Tidwell.
The infant, who still had his umbilical cord attached, was taken to Northeast Memorial Hermann Hospital and is expected to be okay.

Around 4:48 am this morning a baby boy was dropped off at one of our fire stations. Firefighters from Station 63 say the baby was a newborn and was brought in by a male from a nearby church. HPD took custody of the baby. He was taken to Northeast Memorial for evaluation.

In Texas, the Safe Haven law, also known as the Baby Moses law, allows parents with children who are less than 2 months old to leave the child with personnel in a designated area if they cannot care for them.

Since the infant was left at a church, this does not fall under the state’s safe haven law and now officials are looking to find the child’s parents.
