I hope you all made the most of the long holiday weekend and enjoyed all the Fourth of July festivities going on around town: Local Texas artist Sam Caldwell and his wife Vizi, Forest Cove residents and active community volunteers helped put the finishing touches to the 49th Annual Forest Cove Parade lead car honoring another resident, 95-year-old World War II veteran, Sgt. Franklin Patterson. Patterson was part of the unit that led the Utah Beach assault during the Normandy landings and his unit had been awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for Valor in Action during their heroic effort at the Battle of the Bulge.
