I started writing this column as we sat in front of Independence Hall waiting for the gates to open. Our other company, APEX Estate Sales, has been retained to work an estate in this historic city and we had decided to make it a working vacation and take a few days for ourselves to soak in all the history Philadelphia has in spades. Simply standing in the same room that our forefathers gathered in and signed the Declaration of Independence gave me goosebumps. The Liberty Bell (which was much smaller than I expected) and the Museum of the American Revolution were also definitely highlights. As a naturalized citizen, I was awed and humbled by the courage, grit and determination of those who forged this country. I am proud to call myself an American.
