Merle Aaron, mayor of Humble, shared an update on the city with members of the Humble Rotary Club recently.
Aaron is a long-time resident, having come to the city as a supervisor for a concrete company which built many of the runways at Bush Airport. “It was called Jetero Airport back then,” Aaron said. In fact, it was subsequently renamed Houston International Airport and then Houston Intercontinental Airport before becoming Bush Intercontinental Airport in 1997.
Aaron mused about the history of the city and remarked that it is an “old city.” It also, he said, is home to many retirees.
