Summer: a busy time for Humble ISD

The Humble ISD Board meeting July 10 began with a video highlighting a training program called “The Power of Possibilities.” It was designed and developed to inspire teachers to imagine new and exciting ways to engage students in exploring, creating and learning. When she introduced the video, Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen noted that more than 7,000 teachers and district staff had just gone through the training earlier this summer.
“It makes me laugh because a lot of people come up to me and say,’ Oh you don’t work in the summer, right?’” Fagen paused and then said, “It’s a little known fact that in the summer, in education we do a lot of work. We do all of our prep for the next year, our budgeting, our hiring, our construction; all of the things you don’t want to do when the students are in the buildings or you can’t do.”
