Teen Admits To Drinking MD 20/20 Before Crash: Prosecutors

A 17-year-old Kingwood man charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter was released on $60,000 bond Thursday.

ATASCOCITA, TX -- A 17-year-old man accused of killing two teenage girls in a drunk driving accident allegedly admitted to drinking an entire bottle of MD 20/20 before the crash, prosecutors said Thursday.

Jaggar Smith is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the deaths of his friends, Salama Gomez and Chloe Robison, both 16-year-old Atascocita High School students. Smith was going twice the legal speed limit when he lost control, hit several trees and ripped his car in half, killing the two girls inside.

Smith, who escaped with minor injuries, spent the night in the Harris County Jail. He was released on $60,000 bond Thursday morning.

Smith’s family released a statement shortly after his release, which read in part: "We are all in shock and under a fog of confusion due to this event. We are gratified by the public comments made by other students that show Jaggar as we know him was irreparably altered forever. Three families have been completely upended and will never be the same as a result of what has occurred.
