Hurricane Harvey Movie Set To Begin Production

Houston-based film company will revisit the Category 4 storm that dumped rain on Houston in biblical proportions.

HOUSTON, TX — Just when Houstonians thought they'd heard enough about Hurricane Harvey, talks of a motion picture have surfaced. Real talk, that is. Next month at different locations around the Bayou City, the Houston-based Street Corner Films is scheduled to begin filming "Harvey," which will trace the storm's path and damage. As we all remember, harvey was a powerful category 4 storm that pummeled the Coastal Bend before moving to Houston and meandering for three days, dropping more than 60 inches of rain.

"Harvey" will star April Grant, Cara Cochran, Antrone Harris and Tabitha Grant. The 10-day shoot shoot is slated to start Feb. 17 with producer and casting director Nkem DenChukwu, a Harvey survivor who said the "idea of the film is to show how everybody put their differences aside to help each other, no matter their race or class," according to a report in the Houston Chronicle.

"Regardless of the storm we face in life, there is hope," DenChukwu told the Chronicle. "With Harvey, strangers became neighbors and friends. It still gives us hope."
