Houston Standoff Between SWAT Team and Man Firing Shots From Balcony Ends Peacefully

Suspect faces deadly conduct charge following four-hour standoff with police and SWAT personnel.

HOUSTON, TX — It began around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, and ended four hours later, when a SWAT team convinced a man who had been firing shots from his balcony and then barricaded himself in his apartment to surrender.

The incident occurred at the Seton Chase Apartments in the 7700 block of Seton Lake. Officers arriving on the scene encountered the man firing the handgun, and when they located his apartment attempted to convince him to surrender. He refused, and after two hours of back and forth a High Risk Operations Unit and negotiators were called in.

Two hours later, around 6 a.m., according to the Houston Chronicle, the SWAT team finally talked the suspect, whose identity has not been released, into surrendering.
