The suspect, Jackson Lee Miles, a 56-year-old black male, was observed to be wandering through the ninth floor of the Community Bank. When he noticed he was being watched, he went to the corporate offices of “Lupe Tortillas,” on the second floor of the building. Once there, an employee confronted him after catching him going through her purse. Miles then immediately left the building.

The employee notified a building security guard of the attempted theft. The security guard searched outside the building for the suspect and found a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable, who was preparing to work an extra job directing traffic, and notified him of the incident.

About 10 minutes later, the deputy saw the suspect walk to a red pickup truck parked in the building parking lot. The Precinct 1 deputy constable, along with a Harris County Precinct 7 deputy constable, approached the suspect. The suspect got into the pickup truck and attempted to flee, however he was prevented from leaving by the deputy constables. The suspect then reversed the pickup truck at a high rate of speed and then drove toward a second parking lot exit. Deputies again attempted to prevent him from leaving. As the suspect drove toward the deputies, the Precinct 1 deputy constable, fearing for his safety, discharged his duty weapon more than once toward the suspect, but did not strike him.

The suspect then crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. Both deputies pursued him on foot behind the back of the building and took him into custody. There were no injuries in this incident.

A semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. Miles is charged with felon in possession of a firearm and felony evading in a motor vehicle in the 232nd State District Court.

The deputy involved in this incident was not injured. As is customary when a law enforcement officer discharges his weapon at a suspect within the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit.

2. The shooting of victim Levi Davis happened at 2111 Fannin Street about 10:20 p.m. on Friday. Davis was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers M. Barrow and R. Montalvo reported Davis and two other unknown males were standing on the sidewalk near the parking lot of a gas station when he was shot multiple times by an unknown suspect from inside a passing vehicle. Witnesses described the suspect's vehicle either a silver Mercury sedan or a black Nissan sedan.

3. The first shooting fatality happened 10 minutes later around 10:30 p.m. at 9437 Merle Street on Friday.

The victim, 30, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Dominguez and Officer B. Roberts reported that the victim was involved in an altercation with his neighbor over a vehicle parked in the street. A short time after the altercation, the victim was shot by an unknown black male who fled the scene in a grey four-door sedan.

4. The second fatality of the weekend happened in the late Saturday night/early Sunday morning time frame (about 5 a.m.) at 9275 Richmond Avenue. The victim, Alberth Sinisterr-Villegas, 26, of Houston, was transported to West Houston Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD Homicide Division Officers C. Hogue and T. Miller reported that Sinisterr-Villegas was inside an after-hours night club at the above address when he was shot. He was then transported by an unknown person to the hospital. At this time, there is no known motive nor suspect(s).

5. A man and a woman were both shot at 11700 Alief Clodine about 6:45 p.m. on Sunday. The victims, Steve Polito, 24, and Linda Madrigal, 20, both of Houston, were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assault Unit Officers D. Williamson and D. Nabors reported that Polito and Madrigal were in their vehicle near the above address when two unknown male suspects approached the passenger side. Both suspects fired multiple shots, striking both victims. Polito and Madrigal fled the scene in their vehicle and were later transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital.

6. The last reported shooting of the weekend came around 9:30 p.m. Sunday when an unidentified black male was involved in a disturbance at a restaurant at 2700 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West). During the incident, he began destroying several items inside the business and stated he would return with a gun. He then left the scene.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant H. Ruiz and Officers R. Gonzalez and N. Krupa reported that after a short time later, responding officers and civilians heard gunshots being fired toward the business from a vehicle on the South Loop service road. One gunshot struck a marked HPD patrol vehicle parked in front of the business. The vehicle was occupied by an HPD officer who was not struck. A second officer had just exited the vehicle to respond to the scene.

The officers were not hurt in this incident. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white or silver Dodge Durango SUV with paper license plates.
