Band's Enema 'Art' Turns Montrose Fundraiser Into A Health Hazard

Sonic Rabbit Hole's Michael Clemmons defends procedure, but AvantGarden owner begs to differ.

The evening was designed to raise funds for a man undergoing treatment for cancer, but an enema act got in the way.

Last Friday, Amy Stanley's fundraiser for her friend began on time at AvantGarden, and the bands, who volunteered their acts for the event, were getting ready for their gigs.

"I was expecting everything to go smoothly," Stanley told KTRK TV. "I heard some yelling and I came in and was just shocked."

What shocked her was fecal matter all over the stage, evidently left there by Michael Clemmons, a member of Sonic Rabbit Hole, who were performing at the time.

"Now, I did administer the enema, but I evacuated myself in the restroom and flushed," Clemmons explained.

"That's a tough one," the musician replied, when asked why he decided to give himself the protein shake enema. "As an artist, I get an idea in my head and execute it."

Curious about the band? Here's a look at Sonic Rabbit Hole performing in a video shot earlier this year.

Maria Lemesoff, the venue's owner, said the stage was in a deplorable state after Clemmons' act.

"It smelled so bad the bartender was throwing up behind the bar," she said. "They stepped on it, so it was all over the venue." Lemesoff added that Clemmons' action was in no way art, and called it an act of vandalism.

AvantGarden has been fully remediated and sanitized, and Stanley's friend is the recipient of a more palatable fundraising campaign, to which you can contribute by clicking here.
