Crime Stoppers Ready to Make History as Dave Ward Building Nears Its Premiere

28,000-square-foot facility will be organization's first-ever such headquarters anywhere in the world.

HOUSTON, TX — For the past 36 years, Crime Stoppers of Houston has been helping make the city and its surrounding areas safer. Thousands of criminal have been apprehended and as many crimes solved with the organization's help. That's a record that would make anyone proud.

Now, Crime Stoppers is making history. On January 27, its new headquarters will open on Main Street in Midtown, making it the first of its kind for the organization anywhere.

The Dave Ward Building — the HQ is named after ABC 13 anchorman Dave Ward, who was instrumental in the development of Houston Crime Stoppers — will house all of the organization's operations, including its Safe School and Safe Community programs, and its administrative and media staff.

The first floor of the building has been designed to serve as a community hub for programs and meetings — and Crime Stoppers will not charge for its use. The third floor will house the organization's Tip Line.

In addition, the building's grounds will host the 12,800-square-foot Harris County Sheriff's Officers Memorial Garden, a tribute to fallen officers.
