Explosion At Whitehall Hotel In Houston, Injuries Reported

Houston FD says electrical contractors were working in underground electrical room

HOUSTON, TX — Houston firefighters have responded to an explosion at the Whitehall Hotel downtown. HFD reports one person has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and another worker suffered burns to the hands.

HFD said the explosion happened when electrical contractors were replacing a breaker in an underground electric room at the hotel, located at 1700 Smith Street.

Smoke damage was spotted on one side of the building, according to KHOU.com.
