George and Barbara Bush, along with Bush family members, are scheduled to leave for Maine for a vacation soon.

HOUSTON, TX — That was a lot of history for one room. Two former presidents filled the space on Thursday in Houston Methodist Hospital as George W. Bush paid a visit to his father, George H.W. Bush, who is recovering from a mild case of pneumonia.

The elder Bush was admitted to the hospital on April 14 for treatment of a persistent cough and was later diagnosed with the lung ailment.

"Big morale boost from a high level delegation. No father has ever been more blessed, or prouder," the elder Bush wrote on Twitter about the visit from his son.

Jim McGrath, spokesman for George and Barbara Bush, said the 41st president was gaining strength and in good spirits and tweeted on Thursday that the Houston resident would remain in the hospital for at least the evening.

The elder Bush, who is 92, was president from 1989 to 1993. He also served as the director of the CIA and was Ronald Reagan's vice-president.
