MD Anderson Cancer Center Gets An Interim President

Appointment comes on the heels of the resignation of Ron DePinho, who had been under fire at the renowned medical facility.

HOUSTON, TX — He's the current head of MD Anderson's diagnostic imaging department, and soon he'll be in charge of the entire influential cancer center, if only temporarily.

The chancellor of the University of Texas System, William McRaven, announced today that Dr. Marshall Hicks will assume the role of presidency at the center on Tuesday, March 21, the day after Dr. Ron DePinho's resignation becomes official.

"Dr. Hicks is a widely respected leader within the MD Anderson family, with nearly 20 years of service on the faculty," McRaven said a statement. "When we discussed potential candidates for the interim presidency, Dr. Hicks' name came up time and time again. His colleagues throughout the institution have great trust and confidence in him."
