Rockets Center To Miss Rest of Playoffs After Tearing Muscle

Fifteen-year veteran Nene left Sunday night's game against the Spurs with thigh injury.

HOUSTON, TX — It was a bittersweet victory for the Rockets on Sunday night against the Spurs, because reserve center Nene left the game in the first quarter after playing a little more than one minute. The Rockets won 125-104 without him.

The injury was determined to be a tear of his adductor muscle, the team announced on Monday morning, adding that Nene will miss the remainder of the playoffs. In a statement, the Rockets said that the team's medical staff was "reviewing treatment options," which could mean Nene faces surgery.

The player received an MRI on Sunday night. He played 67 games in the regular season for the Rockets and averaged 9 points a game, compiling a 62 percent shooting record.
