NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Two men have been arrested in connection to a shooting at a North Austin used car dealership over the weekend, police said on Monday.

Police were called to 11320 FM 2222 on Friday amid reports of shots being fired at the car lot at that location just before 6 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located two men with gunshot wounds and detained a third, 30-year-old Modesto Hernandez. Austin-Travis County EMS transported Alberto Torres, 31, to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second male, 61-year-old Jerry Paul Lee, was pronounced on scene.

Detectives at the scene accuse Hernandez and Torres of going to the dealership with the intention of stealing a car. During the attempt, a gunfight ensued between Torres and the used car dealership's manager, Lee. Both men were struck multiple times, police said in an advisory. Torres — who remains in critical condition — and Hernandez were arrested before being charged with capital murder, the latter man currently booked into the Travis County Jail.
