Here are the top stories in North Austin-Pflugerville today:

  1. At last month's City Council meeting held on March 8, council members voted to terminate the contract with Acadian Ambulance Services. This move came only two months after the company "began providing private emergency medical services to the city of Pflugerville." During the meeting, "several Pflugerville residents shared stories of negative experiences with Acadian," but "neither Acadian nor city officials provided a reason for the dissolution during the council meeting." However, on Tuesday, March 22, "Pflugerville City Council Member David Rogers said Acadian’s performance was not a factor in the decision. A few missteps aside, he said it had good response times for January and February." For more details visit: (Community Impact Newspaper)
  2. On Friday, March 18, Little Italy Brick Oven Pizza opened at 2700 West Pecan St. in Pflugerville. The building where the pizzeria is located "is well known for its ties to a popular TV show — 'Friday Night Lights' — and its unique, ice cream shape." Owner and Chef Robert Griffin said, “It’s quite ironic, I know. The big thing was how do I make an ice cream cone work with an Italian-type theme? We’re going Italian flag!” As a result, he "had the cone part of the building painted red and green to pair with the white ice cream top. Besides this pizzeria, he "hopes to one day open another pizzeria dedicated to the same mission statement as his current restaurant — 'making available to you the best-tasting pizza and Italian cuisine while maintaining traditional flavors and tastes' — and "said this new restaurant will be shaped like pizza." 3. Dallas-based Delucca, "an all-you-can-eat Brazilian pizza restaurant," is opening up in May at 4200 West Braker Lane, "in the former home of Provision at the Quarry in North Austin." The venue is owned by husband-and-wife team, Evandro Caregnato and Vanderleia Mallmann, "who are natives of Brazil that claim Italian heritage." The idea for their restaurant came while they were "working at churrascaria chain Texas de Brazil." Their eatery "offers five courses — "lobster bisque, salad, meatballs, savory pizza, and dessert pizza" — with menu choices ranging from "traditional margherita and pepperoni to chicken tikka masala and Turkish lamb." In addition, they have "vegetarian, halal, and kosher options, as well as a la carte vegan pizzas and sweet pizzas made with "dulce de leche and coconut or the Romeo & Juliet which has mascarpone and guava." Besides pizza, they also serve "wine, beer, coffee and cocktails." For more details on the new restaurant visit: (Eater Austin)
