BBQ Austin & Carnival Features Cook-Off, Fairground Activities

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Come enjoy a quintessentially Texas event with BBQ Austin & Carnival, two-days of a BBQ cook-off competition, fairground activities and many more surprises in store. The event will feature delicious BBQ and incredible entertainment set against the fairground backdrop. The family-friendly event is open to all ages and will feature pony rides, a petting zoo, and Austin's largest carnival.

On Friday, March 6, the event will include an 8 p.m. spectacular fireworks display showcasing the beautiful Austin skyline. This year's event will feature BBQ Austin University, an educational cooking session featuring Aaron Franklin and friends on Saturday, March 7. There will be a hands-on cooking experience with either pork ribs or chicken, and include a special presentation by Aaron Franklin on tri-tips. The session will feature a host of topics ranging from cooking techniques to management and flavor methods and will begin at 9 a.m.

The fist 25 registrants to BBQ University will receive a signed copy of Aaron Franklin's best-selling book, and tickets include classes, BBQ Austin admission, parking and a souvenir apron. In addition, BBQ enthusiasts will enjoy Ag Mechanics, as Texas 4-H and FFA students from across the state compete in five BBQ-themed divisions at Rodeo Austin's inaugural Agricultural Mechanics Show. This event is free as part of BBQ Austin, and guests will have access to the contest and awards presentation located in the rodeo area.
