Bicyclist Killed Along Interstate 35 Frontage Road In Austin
Police said a driver struck a cyclist on Oct. 22 before parking the vehicle ahead of the collision site and fleeing on foot.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified the bicyclist killed along the Interstate 35 frontage road late last month by a hit-and-run driver.
The incident dates to Oct. 22 just after 11 p.m. along the 12100 block of North I-35 northbound frontage road, according to a police advisory. A police investigation shows that a brown, 2008 Ford F350 was traveling northbound along the frontage road when the driver moved to the outside right lane before striking a bicyclist.
The driver continued northbound beore turning onto Techridge Bouleard, where he stopped the vehicle in front of a QT gas station before fleeing on foot, according to police. The truck later was located with heavy damage to the right, front corner panel.

The bicyclist who was killed at the scene was identified as 26-year-old Michael Wayne Allen Parrish. Police said his bicycle lacked a headlight or rear light, and he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The incident marked Austin’s 72nd fatal traffic crash of 2020, police said, resulting in 77 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 67 traffic fatalities.
