Community Meeting To Focus on Transportation Improvements in North Austin

Council Member Greg Casar is hosting the meeting on Wednesday.

City Council Member Greg Casar is hosting a community meeting on Wednesday to announce the results of his District 4 transportation survey and conduct a vote on which infrastructure projects the community wants to see funded.

“Council Member Casar will use this participatory budgeting exercise to determine his office’s funding priorities as the City Council approves funds for specific projects across the City in the coming month,” his office said in a press release.

The survey was developed after the passage of a City Council resolution in June to distribute discretionary transportation funds for neighborhood-based needs across Austin. Extensive outreach was conducted in District 4, including online surveys, block-walks, and phone banks, yielding input from more than 600 residents, his office said.

“This outreach project was a powerful tool for making clear which projects rated highest by the Transportation Department would most improve our residents’ safety and mobility,” Casar said in a statement. “I look forward to sharing the results with the Mobility Committee and the full Council soon as we work together to craft a citywide funding proposal.”

State Representative Celia Israel will also be at the meeting to discuss state-level transportation updates for the North Austin area. And Council Member Ann Kitchen, Chair of the Council’s Mobility Committee, and a representative from the office of Congressman Lloyd Doggett will also attend.
