Coronavirus: Organization Sees Increase In Demand For Services

NORTH AUSTIN, TX —As the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep across communities, area organizations are ramping efforts to keep steps ahead of the crisis. With individuals and families being adversely affected by the economic impact of the disease, support for area non-profits and organizations has reached a critical point.

In an effort to assist as many Austin area residents and help them receive access to essential services and programs during these trying times, Caritas of Austin looks for the support of the community to donate and help defray the extra costs associated with meeting the increased and urgent needs of area residents. Accepted donations provide direct help to individuals and families with services such as rent, utility bills and food assistance.

Caritas has had to adjust the delivery of services to adhere to safety guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Staff are working from home and connecting with clients by phone when possible, and front line staff are meeting client needs with food assistance, employment assistance, and continued efforts to move clients into permanent housing.
