Elderly Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In North Austin IDed
A 72-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross Rundberg Lane on July 17 when he was struck by a vehicle and died a week later.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the elderly pedestrian who died after being hit by a car while trying to cross a North Austin street last month.
The incident dates to Friday, July 17, just before 9:45 a.m. along the 800 block of East Rundberg Lane, according to a police advisory. A police investigation showed a white, 2002 Hyundai Accent was traveling eastbound when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, according to a police advisory. Witnesses told police the pedestrian was attempting to cross Rundberg Lane from north to south when the collision occurred. Police noted the motorist remained on the scene to cooperate with their investigation, and it did not appear driver impairment or speed were factors contributing to the crash.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics implemented life-saving measures before transporting the crash victim to Dell Seton Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just before 2:15 p.m. on July 24 when he succumbed to his injuries.

The pedestrian was identified as Ronnie Dawson Lindsey. He was 72 years old.

The incident marked Austin’s 47th fatal traffic crash of 2020, police said, resulting in 52 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 43 traffic fatalities.
