Here are the top stories today in North Austin-Pflugerville:
- Texas Monthly writer John Spong wrote a story in 2013 titled "All Grown Up." In the story, he "pulls up to the Liberty, at the time the gold standard for East Side dives. His group is immediately tagged as interlopers." At that time, a young man yells “Hey, yuppies, why don’t you get in your BMW and drive back to Pflugerville!” According to Austin-based realtor Sean Cronen, now "everyone wants to be in Pflugerville and Round Rock." Although "he estimates that 60 percent of his clients are from out-of-state," he said, "It's a wild turnaround." Austin Board of Realtors president-elect Ashley Jackson said, "It's become a really high-demand area." For more on this story visit: (mySA)
- If you're looking for some good "tacos al pastor," which are Mexican-style pork tacos, there are several places in Austin that serve them. Readers were asked where the best places for al pastor tacos were, and one reader from Pflugerville named Luis recommended "El Taquito on Riverside and its flagship in Pflugerville" and said they're the "best al pastor" tacos! Another reader named "Asher took his friend Marc B. to El Taquito at the start of a weekend visit" from New York, and he wanted to go eat there "no fewer than three times." El Taquito is located at 20205 Fm 685 and is open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Visit their website at http://eltaquito.com/."(Axios)
- If you're looking for a pet to add to the family, there are several animals that are up for adoption in the North Austin-Pflugerville area. "According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, over 6 million pets are surrendered to animal shelters each year nationwide." Unfortunately, only half of those animals are adopted. The good news is that many of those animals are right here in town and are waiting for you to take them home. Patch and Petfinder can help you find your "furever" friend. For a list of pets available near you visit: (North Austin-Pflugerville Patch)
