Here are the top stories today in North Austin-Pflugerville:
- Residents at a neighborhood in North Austin "are concerned by the recent appearance of feral hogs right in their own backyards." Although they have seen coyotes and deer in the past, this is the first time they see wild animals on their greenbelt property, and they are very worried. Tom Everard, a neighbor who caught the hogs on his front door camera, said, "He was digging around through these beds here...Next thing you know we had a whole stream of texts from all the neighbors talking about videos that they’d been picking up." This is not the first time the problem occurs in Texas, as these types of animals were originally "brought into the U.S. by settlers hundreds of years ago and got loose. They then started reproducing and the population grew pretty quickly." According to city officials, "if you see a feral hog you should stay in the house or your car until the hog leaves. Don't try to interact with it because of its possible aggressive nature." For more information visit: (FOX 7 Austin)
- On Monday, April 11, two male juveniles were accused of armed robbery "on the 4400 block of Spicewood Springs Road." According to the Austin Police Department, the robbery was originally reported to have occurred at St. Matthews Episcopal Day School, but that information was incorrect. The two suspects were students at Anderson High School, and "one is in custody while another is outstanding." A letter was sent to parents and guardians regarding the incident.
