Woman Killed Outside Her North Austin Apartment: Police
Police said Karen Sue Henson, 58, investigated the source of a noise outside her home before she was killed early Monday morning.
AUSTIN, TX — A woman was killed early Monday as she investigated a noise outside her North Austin apartment, police said.
The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. at the Delwood Apartments along 1400 E. 51st St. Police had received a call about an injured woman, finding her with severe trauma to her body. She was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m., police said.
Police have identified the victim as 58-year-old Karen Sue Henson. Detectives learned Henson had heard a noise outside her apartment window before investigating the source. It is unclear what occurred outside that led to the woman's killing, police added.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives learned Henson previously had been homeless, and was known for occasionally helping others experiencing similar situations. Given her efforts, many people knew where she lived, police said.
