AUSTIN, TX — A truck fuel spill along northbound Interstate 35 near the Braker Lane exit has reduced the stretch of highway to one lane and created clogged traffic, transportation officials said.

Texas Department of Transportation officials reportedly were en route to assist in clearing the stretch of roadway. In a tweet, TxDot officials reported motorists were using the highway shoulder to get around the wreck that occurred at the rush of the afternoon rush hour.

"Cleanup crews on the way, but it will take a while to clear the fuel spill," TxDot officials said at around 5 p.m. "Consider alternatives as needed." Indeed, drivers are urged to avoid the area altogether by finding alternative routes to reach destinations.
