- On Thursday, March 31, pay raises were approved for school district employees at Pflugerville and Round Rock Independent School Districts. Superintendent Dr. Hafedh Azaiez said, “Our instructional support staff members are crucially important to the success of our students, and we know their pay does not match the value they provide our campuses." He added, “This is an area that needed to be addressed immediately and I am grateful to the Board for recognizing the importance of this move.” The "Pflugerville ISD approved raises of 3 percent for teachers and other school staff" and "raised the district's minimum wage to $15 an hour." - On Thursday, March 31, A woman from Winnie who shot a young girl from Vidor earlier last week "was arrested at about 3:40 a.m. at a home in Liberty Hill, about 40 miles north of Austin." The woman, 24-year-old Chelsea Ann-Marie Shipp, shot and killed 16-year-old Katelynn Nicole Stone on Sunday, March 27. "If you have information about a crime, you could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000 by providing an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas.
