Health Series Offers In-Depth Discussion On Hypertension

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Known as the silent killer, high blood pressure (HBP) or hypertension, is when the force of the blood that pushes against the walls of the blood vessels registers consistency high. According to the CDC, it's estimated that 1 in 3 people, or 75 million American adults, live with high blood pressure, and persons of any age can develop hypertension.

Those experiencing high blood pressure are at a greater risk for heart disease and stroke, the first and third leading causes of death in the United States, respectively. As a result of high blood pressure, the heart and blood vessels are forced to work harder and in less efficient ways, as a result quality of life is greatly impacted.
