Home Slice Pizza Is Coming to North Austin

The popular South Congress pizza joint is opening another location.

If you are tired of driving down to South Congress for some of the best pizza in Austin, you are in luck.

Home Slice is in the process of building a new location in North Austin, at 501 E. 53rd St, Austin 360 reports. The New York-style pizzeria, owned by Jen and Joseph Strickland and Terri Hannifin, has been operating at Congress and Elizabeth St. since 2005.

Construction at the satellite location will begin in either the winter or spring, and it is expected to open in roughly a year. Home Slice has been routinely voted as some of the best pizza in Austin. The owners take their employees on an annual trip to New York City to study how pizza is made there.

The owners have long considered a second location, and the crowds that form at Home Slice almost every night are a testament to the pizzeria’s runaway success. But they wanted to be sure that the time and place was right.

“We march to the beat of our own drummer and we do things our own way, and we want to be a restaurant that will be around for generations to come,” Joseph Strickland told Austin 360. “We want to be around for the long term and be sustainable without putting our product or service at risk. We’re ready as a company to do what we do and delight a whole bunch of new people who don’t even know about us yet.”
