Juvenile Fatally Shot In North Austin: Sheriff's Office

Police arriving at an apartment complex along the 13800 block of The Lakes Boulevard early Sunday found a mortally wounded minor.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A juvenile was fatally shot at a North Austin apartment complex over the weekend, police said Monday.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office said several calls were made early Sunday reporting multiple shots being fired at an apartment complex along the 13800 block of The Lakes Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found a young Hispanic man who had been shot, according to an advisory. Despite life-saving measures, the shooting victim was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m., police said.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Monday morning, according to the sheriff's office. However, officials said, his identify will not be released given his minor status.

Law enforcement officials noted the case appears to be isolated, and the public is not in danger. As detectives continue their investigation, they ask anyone with information to call them at (512) 854-1444.

This is the fifth homicide investigated by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office in 2020, officials noted.
