Man Killed In North Austin Collision Identified
Austin Boggus, 38, was traveling along Research Boulevard when he left the roadway and struck a concrete base holding a sign, police said.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Thursday identified the driver who was killed after leaving a North Austin roadway before colliding with a concrete base holding up a sign.
The incident dates to Sept. 15 just before 7:30 p.m. along the 9100 block of Research Boulevard, police wrote in an advisory. A preliminary investigation showed a silver, 2016 Ford Escape traveling southbound left the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle crossed over into a grassy median about 340 feet before striking a concrete base on which a sign was affixed, police wrote.
The driver, 38-year-old Austin Boggus, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, police said. He succumbed to his injuries three days later, police added.

The incident marked Austin’s 62nd fatal traffic crash of 2020, police said, resulting in 67 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 63 traffic fatalities.
