NAMI Central Texas Hosts Monthly Daughters And Sons Support Group
The group meets the second Wednesday of the month through April and invites adult children of parents living with mental health conditions.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX —Studying mental health and measuring how many Americans are affected by mental illness each year helps communities understand its prevalence, and better assess its physical, social and financial impact according to National Alliance on Mental Health (NAIM). Perhaps more importantly, understanding mental illness is a way to demonstrate that no one is alone and helps to advance awareness, erases the stigma and serves as advocacy to improved health care.
NAIM estimates that at least 8.4 million people in the U.S. provide care to an adult with a mental or emotional health issue, and caregivers of adults with mental or emotional health issues spend an average of 32 hours per week providing unpaid care.
NAMI Central Texas, dedicated to improving the lives of all individuals affected by mental illness through education, support and advocacy programs, invite adult children of parents living with a mental health condition to the Daughters and Sons Support Group: Austin. The group meets every second Wednesday of the month through April at the Nifty Fifty Diner on the Austin State Hospital Campus. No registration required. For more click HERE.
