Nearly 30 Displaced After North Austin Apartment Complex Fire
Although just 1 unit along Longspur Boulevard was damaged by fire, residents at 8 units were displaced after electricity was knocked out.
AUSTIN, TX — Nearly 30 residents were displaced from their homes after a fire ripped through a North Austin apartment complex late Thursday.
The blaze broke out at the complex located at 701 W. Longspur Blvd., fire officials wrote in a tweet issued just before 10 p.m. According to the fire department, the fire was contained to a single unit but resulted in heavy damage.
Although just one unit was affected by the fire, fire officials said residents at eight units were displaced as a result of damage to the electric service at the complex. All told, 29 residents were displaced.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire was accidental, having originated inside a water heater closet on a second-story balcony.
