North Austin Residents Invited To Learn Art Of Cross Stitch
The Neill-Cochran House Museum will host Shannon Downey of Badass Cross Stitch for an introductory workshop on embroidery techniques.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX—What better time to take up a new hobby or interest than the start of a new year! Join Badass Cross Stitch for an intro to embroidery workshop with Shannon Downey, a community organizer disguised as a fiber artist and craftivist. Learn how the art of embroidery can help you manage stress, and gain insight about the materials, their uses, how to get set up, designing your piece, working with patterns, and how to start with a backstitch.
Scheduled Thursday, Jan. 14 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Neill-Cochran House Museum located at 2310 San Gabriel St., Austin, TX 78705, the event promises to have you stitching in no time! The workshops are small group gatherings and a great opportunity to meet others who enjoy crafting.
In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, safety guidelines will be followed including hosting the workshop outdoors (be sure to dress for the weather), and the in-person crowd will be kept small to ensure adequate social distancing. Masks are requested to be worn by all guests, speakers, and staff and attendees are asked to remain masked throughout the event for the safety and wellbeing of all in attendance.
