Online Workshop Spotlights Resilient Food Systems
Healthy People, Healthy Planet: A Workshop is a 2-day event on food systems and ways to attain via environmental, economic sustainability.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, Medicine (NASEM Health & Medicine), private, nonprofit institutions that provide independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation and conduct other activities to solve complex problems and inform public policy decisions related to science, technology, and medicine invite the community to a free two-day virtual workshop for building a more sustainable, resilient, equitable, and nourishing food system.
Healthy People, Healthy Planet: A Workshop will take place on Wednesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 23 beginning at 9 a.m. and will explore the integration of health, societal, economic, and environmental effects and future needs of the food system. Attendees will better understand ways to achieve a more resilient food system for future generations providing access to safe and nutritious food centered on environmental and economic sustainability. The workshop will include three sessions:
- Session 1: Vulnerabilities of the Food System (July 22, 9 a.m. CDT - 11:30 p.m. CDT)
- Session 2: Resiliency of the Food System (July 22, 12:30 pm CDT - 3 p.m. CDT)
- Session 3: Transformation of the Food System (July 23, 9 a.m. CDT - 12 p.m. CDT)
