PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Pflugerville Community Development Corporation has been awarded the 2021 Community Impact Award from Trade and Industry Development Magazine for recruitment of the Amazon bulk fulfillment center, officials said Thursday.

The Amazon site is a 3.8-million-square-foot facility creating 1,000 jobs to the community and $250 million in capital investment, officials said. The site is expected to open by August 2021.

“This is the first time Pflugerville has received this distinguished award, and we are honored to be recognized by Trade and Industry as having one of the top projects in the country,” said Amy Madison, the executive director of Pflugerville Community Development Corp. “The decision Amazon made to locate in our community has already had a profound impact this year and will continue to provide benefits far into the future.”

For the past 15 years, Trade and Industry Development Magazine has recognized key projects throughout the country with Community Impact Award honors — colloquially knowns at the CiCi Awards — in showcasing projects making an extensive capital investment or community impact in the communities where they locate.

Due to COVID-19, this year the 2021 CiCi Awards were expanded to include 30 winning nationwide projects announced in 2019 and 2020. Seven of the projects were in Texas — two of them in Travis County. Besides the Amazon project in Pflugerville, the Tesla Gigafactory Project in Del Valle, located just 20 miles south of Pflugerville, received the Corporate Investment Award.
