Pflugerville Residents Invited To Online Songwriting Workshop
Songwriting 101: Martin Luther King, Jr. is a virtual workshop on the basics of writing songs and discusses MLK's influence on songwriters.
PFLUGERVILLE, TX—Aspiring artists will have an opportunity to enjoy a virtual introductory workshop on songwriting, and work with a group to create your musical masterpiece. Songwriting 101: Martin Luther King, Jr. is an online event taught by museum educator and music professional Adam Ollendorff via Zoom, that will teach the fundamentals of songwriting, including form, them and rhyme scheme.
Centered around the influence of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the civil rights movement, the workshop to be held on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 12:30 p.m. , will discuss various topics among them how the King's life and legacy inspired songs of freedom and justice including Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come", and Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released".
Participants will share ideas and write an original song all via chat. The online event is free, however, space is limited and registration is required.
