Pflugerville Residents Invited To Fascinating Virtual Discussion
The online event hosted by The Contemporary Austin invites audiences to a thoughtful discussion on contemporary American political issues.
Pflugerville, TX—As we make our way into this new year, and on the eve of the 2021 presidential inauguration, The Contemporary Austin will host an online event discussing the power of art, agency, the multiplicity of American voices, nation building, and politics.
The North Austin community is invited to Open for Discussion: With Liberty and Justice for All (A Work in Progress), a fascinating look into the current political climate and civic engagement. The free virtual event scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. will be moderated by The Contemporary Austin's new executive director, sharon maidenberg, and will feature insight by Constance Hockaday, a socially engaged maritime artist; PJ Raval, a documentary filmmaker and LGBTQ activist; Andrea Valdez, editor in chief of The 19th*, a nonprofit, nonpartisan newsroom reporting on gender, politics, and policy; and Dr. Laura Gutierrez, professor of Mexican American and Latina/o cultural studies, visual art, and performance at U.T. Austin.
