Pflugerville Seniors: November Events Guide

Seniors have opportunities to enjoy various activities and events throughout Pflugerville for the month of November.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — As we find ourselves in the midst of Autumn, when days are shorter and the cooler temperatures tempt us to want to cozy up indoors, Pflugerville offers events and activities to get us out and moving. Throughout the month of November, seniors will have the chance to enjoy unique activities and endless opportunities to meet new friends. Here's a look at local events happening around town.

  • Heritage House Open - First Sunday: Heritage House Partners host the museum the first Sunday of every month. 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd., Pflugerville, Texas 78660
  • Journaling Group: Come take advantage of the library's supply of washi tapes, stickers and fine line pens to journal your thoughts or plans. Monday, Nov. 4

  • Cookbook Club: Enjoy food and a discussion of cookbooks, cooking techniques, and your favorite foods. Bring a dish to share, along with the recipe used to make it. Each month will focus on a different theme (November: Food Network Stars). Feel free to use library cookbooks, magazines, or recipes you find online. This club meets in the Poppy room.   • Adult Fitness - Join Anytime: A continuous class where guests can join any time. The group meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m., offering 10-class punch card for $25, or $3 per class. This low-impact fitness class is great for seniors, low mobility persons, or adults with rehab or physical therapy issues.   • Senior Crafternoon - Faux Stained Glass: Turn a simple picture frame into a faux stained glass piece.   • LBJ Stories Never Told Publicly - A Talk by Bill Harris: Join us at the Heritage House Museum for a talk by Bill Harris, who worked for LBJ. His behind the scene stories show a different side of the 36th President of the United States. Mr. Harris will also display his personal photographs of LBJ and family, as well as other related items. Wednesday, Nov. 13

  • Veterans Month Presentation - The Harlem Hellfighters: Kymberly Keeton, African American Community Archivist & Librarian for Austin Public Library's Austin History Center, will share the history of the Harlem Hellfighters, an infantry regiment of the New York Army National Guard during World War I and World War I, consisting of mostly African American troops. All ages are welcome to this event. Refreshments will be provided while supplies last. Registration is required.   • Senior Movie Matinee - The Peanut Butter Falcon: Senior movie matinee occurs on the last Monday of each month at 2 pm. Enjoy snacks and a free movie screening. This event is intended for those 55 and up, but anyone 18 and up may attend.   • Pfestive Pfarmers Market: The Pfarmers Market brings fresh, locally grown and prepared foods to the Pflugerville community. Vendors sell a variety of produce including tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, squash, okra, garlic, melons, peaches and grapes; artisan baked goods; honey; flowers; eggs; free-range meats; jarred salsas, pickles and jams; fruits and plants.
    The Pfestive Pfarmers Market expands on the regular market by bringing in seasonal products that are perfect for holiday shopping or getting into the holiday spirit.
