Pflugerville Year In Review Highlights City Accomplishments

From recreation center upgrades to road enhancements, the city accomplished much in a year otherwise marked by challenges.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — As 2020 was coming to a close, Pflugerville officials ticked off the most significant municipal milestones in a year that was otherwise distinguished by challenges spurred by the coronavirus. Despite obstacles, the list is robust — from rec center upgrades to road enhancements.

"While the Coronavirus pandemic may come to mind when thinking of this past year, there are many great things to note about 2020 and accomplishments the City of Pflugerville has achieved," officials wrote in an advisory. Among the city's key accomplishments amid a challenging year were:

  • The Pflugerville Recreation Center underwent upgrades and renovations to better serve the community. Parks and Recreation opened Wilbarger Creek Park and replaced the playscape at Creekside Park.
  • The Pflugerville Library fully embraced the new normal of virtual events by converting its programs to an all-digital format and increasing the number of digital resources offered on their website.
  • The Police Department launched two new programs, Pflugerville Autism Buddies and Bring Me Home, to assist vulnerable populations in the Pflugerville community. Officers also joined the Pflugerville community in June to march for justice and equality.
  • Downtown Pflugerville’s Best Little Plaza in Texas received new artwork, sitting decks and accent lighting to further beautify the area.
  • From a new turn lane off Cameron Road to Kelly Lane improvements, the city enhanced the quality of Pflugerville’s public infrastructure this year and have ongoing investments into the wastewater plant expansion and water plant enhancements. Residents approved transportation and park bond projects that will kick off in the new year.

The referenced accomplishments — and many others — were included in the city's 2020 Year in Review, a copy was mailed to all city water customers.
