Police Shoot Pflugerville Suspect After Hours-Long Standoff

A man who had barricaded himself inside an apartment on Thursday exited the building early Friday before being shot by an officer.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A suspect who had barricaded himself inside a home Thursday before an hours-long standoff ended early Friday was shot by a police officer after exiting the building, officials confirmed.

Pflugerville Police Department officers responded to a family violence call on Thursday at around 12:25 p.m. at the Sage at 1825 Apartments on Foothill Farms Loop, police said in an advisory. A man had barricaded himself inside an apartment as police issued a warrant for family violence strangulation, according to a police advisory.

Just after 5:30 a.m. on Friday, law enforcement officials said, the man contacted police to say he was ready to exit the apartment. As the man prepared to exit, police said a shooting involving an officer occurred just past 5:35 a.m., leading to the suspect's hospitalization.

"The Pflugerville Police Department and Texas Rangers are actively investigating, and no additional information is available at this time," officials said.

Pflugerville Police Chief Jessica Robledo was scheduled to address the media during a 4:30 p.m. news conference in front of the Pflugerville Justice Center, 1611 Pfennig Lane. However, a police spokesperson said the chief would not be taking questions related to the incident.
