Reward Now $14K For Tips On Ice Cream Vendor's Death In N. Austin

AUSTIN, TX — The reward for information leading to arrests after the shooting death of an ice cream vendor in North Austin has been increased to $14,000, officials said.
The Austin Police Association (APA), Amigos En Azul, Austin Cops for Charities (Austin C4C), LULAC and the nephew of homicide victim Adelaido Bernabe Urias have scheduled a press conference on Tuesday to apprise the public, the Austin Police Department said in an advisory. The event is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. in front of the downtown Austin Police Department headquarters at 715 E. 8th St.
The League of United Latin American Citizens, known for its acronym LULAC, was the first to offer a reward in the amount of $10,000. The financial reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers ATX for information leading the arrest of those responsible for his death.

The Austin Police Association, Amigos En Azul, Austin C4C and LULAC have partnered to pledge a total of $13,000 to aid in the investigation. LULAC provided $10,000, Austin C4C contributed $2,000 and Amigos En Azul and the APA both donated $500 each. This is in addition to the $1,000 already being offered through Crime Stoppers ATX, bringing the total to $14,000.

Adeliado Berna Beurias, 68, died at a hospital on July 1 after being shot on June 23 at around 3:10 p.m. at a Serene Park Apartments parking lot on Northgate Boulevard, police said in an advisory. A well-known fixture as he peddled his ice cream treats, Beurias was pushing his cart through the complex when he was confronted by three men, according to officials. One of the suspects shot Beurias as the men tried robbing him before fleeing the scene, police added.
The three suspects are still at large, police said. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the police department's robbery unit at (512) 974-5092, Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS or use the Crime Stoppers app or the Austin PD app free on iPhone and Android. Tipsters also can email at homicide.apd@austintexas.gov. Police noted that those submitting tips have the option to remain anonymous.
