Here are the top stories today in North Austin-Pflugerville:

  1. "Six candidates, including three incumbents," will be "running for seats for the Pflugerville school board in the May 7 election." Duties for school board members, "who serve three-year terms for no pay... include adopting the budget and setting the tax rate, hiring and overseeing the superintendent and setting district policies." The candidates are as follows: "Renae Mitchell, a human resources director is running for her third term in Place 3 against Pat McCord, a 62-year-old photographer and tech consultant. Vernagene Mott, a retired teacher, is running for her seventh term in Place 4 against Corbin Black, a 32-year-old software engineer. Brian Allen, 51, a human resources director, is running for his second term in Place 5 against Alissa Molina, a 44-year-old founder of a nonprofit media organization."
