AUSTIN, TX — A teenager has been arrested in connection to an attempted robbery that culminated in a fatal shooting in North Austin last month.
The incident dates to Friday, Oct. 30, just before 7 p.m. along the 500 block of Carpenter Avenue, according to police. After receiving multiple calls alerting to shots being fired in the area, police said officers found Jose Francisco Galeano Antunez, 38, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite life-saving measures by medics, police said Antunez was pronounced dead a short time after officers arrived. An ensuing investigation found that two males in a maroon sedan were driving along Carpenter Avenue when they stopped to offer to sell Antunez and his friends some marijuana. Antunez declined the offer, police said.
